Here's a quick post about a couple of records I got whilst I was in Helsinki in early April. Records from Combat Rock Shop and KVLT.
Doom - Fuck Peaceville (, )
I've never got round to getting anything by Doom, but after they were announced for Damnation Festival later this year I thought I'd better get listening. This is 2 LPs of fast and heavy crust. Great stuff! What is perhaps more interesting is the story behind the record. Peaceville sold Doom's tracks to Music for nations without consulting the band, and against their wishes, so the band released this LP to let Peacevillle know what they thought of them. There's even a scan on the back of the gatefold sleeve of the letter from Peaceville records notifying the band.
Vitamin X - Full Scale Assault (Agipiunk & Thrashbastard, 2008)
Haven't listened through this enough to say much yet, but I like it so far, and expect it will grow on me. Just another one of many bands I've heard much about but just never got round to picking up any of their stuff.
Khors - Cold (Heidenwut Productions & Ancient Nation, 2008)
I was expecting Drudkh worship here, and turned out to be wrong, but this is still a good LP of mid-to-fast pace BM. Just look at that cover art! Epic winter scenes can be a bit over used but this one is just awesome. After purchasing I noticed a suspect sunwheel/swastika on the back, although I've heard that the band have no political motivations, so I'm not sure what to make of it.
Haemoth - (Southern Lord, 2005)
I spotted this picture disc in a bargain box. I hadn't heard the band before but it's on Southern Lord so I thought it was worth a try for a couple of euros. Haemoth are a black metal band from France, but unfortunately I've not had chance to listen to it enough to write much. to be updated in the future! Limited to 300 copies.
